A further four units at JSE-listed Growthpoint Properties’ R240-million Sterling Industrial Park development, in its Centralpoint innovation district, have been completed and the final two units will be completed before the end of the year.

The first two units at the 27 000 m2 development are already occupied by Screamer Telecoms and Daming Aluminium.

Growthpoint industrial development team head Leon Labuschagne says the industrial park offers high-level security, power and efficiency, which “are all major considerations for businesses in this market”.

Apart from the 24-hour Centralpoint precinct security, Sterling Industrial Park has its own perimeter fencing and security gatehouse serving all units, while each unit also has its own gatehouse and boundary fence.

The development also offers occupants the option of upgrading their electrical power to meet their operating needs, with each unit able to house client generators and backup power, and with the structural strength to accommodate rooftop solar panels.

The buildings include energy-efficient air conditioning and lighting and are designed according to sustainable green building principles, Growthpoint highlights.

Additionally, every unit in the park has a dedicated yard with easy delivery access, large turning circles for vehciles, and both dock and on-grade facilities incorporated in the building.

Flexible offices catering to each business’s unique needs are also standard features.

Because of its location in Centralpoint, the industrial park also offers fibre and is set among landscaped gardens.

“Centralpoint is a vibrant, growing business community in a high-demand area with excellent access, and many benefits and amenities, including access to all-important public transport,” Growthpoint asset management head Errol Taylor comments, highlighting that the development is strategic for Growthpoint as it further strengthens the logistics and warehousing component of the company’s industrial portfolio.

Sterling Industrial Park is Growthpoint’s second major development in Centralpoint, which is being rolled out by the real estate investment trust’s trading and development team.

Development at Sterling Industrial Park and the Centralpoint district is market-driven and responds to the demand for high-quality, efficient and high-tech logistics and warehousing facilities, Growthpoint chief development and investment officer Rudolf Pienaar notes.

Centralpoint is located in Samrand, just off the N1, between Johannesburg and Pretoria in the greater Midrand area.
