JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – South African welding and gas company Afrox has again been contracted to supply mining giant Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) with its compressed gases requirements for the next five years.

The contract was valued at R70-million, with gas suppllied to all Amplats operations in Rustenburg and Polokwane.

“The partnership, going forward, will present Afrox with an opportunity to implement the individual cylinder control programme, which will enable both organisations to improve cylinder transaction accuracy and improved visibility of assets.

“Our supply history to Amplats has been consistently outstanding and we are delighted to retain this contract for the supply of compressed gases with this long-standing customer,” Afrox MD Schalk Venter said.
