Advanced fischer ACT System from Upat is ideal for complex façades

The fischer ACT (Advanced Curtain Wall Technique) System, distributed locally by Upat, allows for the effortless and cost-effective design and installation of attractive, complex façades, which are increasingly a major architectural feature of iconic building projects.
Upat National Product Specialist Charl Weber notes that the fischer ACT System allows for a wide scope of complex architectural design features. The system is ideal for 20-mm-thick natural-stone façade panels to 8-mm-thick ESG and TVG glass panels. Anchors can be positioned freely anywhere on the rear of the panels, while panel replacement itself is a cinch. Even reveal panels can be attached with ease, and in many different ways.
ACT’s aesthetic highlight is its undercut technology, combined with the FZP II fischer zykon panel, which ensures that there are no visible fixing elements at the joints. This stress-free fixing system is installed into pre-drilled undercut holes.
The ACT System can also accommodate higher loads than conventional fixings. Anchor positioning can be optimised, especially as the bending movement within the panel is reduced by about 50% when compared to traditional systems. This allows for reduced panel thickness and larger panel sizes. In addition, the varied panel thickness can be compensated for by the use of stand-off anchor types.
“The fischer ACT System is a perfect combination of panel anchors, individual substructures, and sophisticated drilling technology. This pays off on any construction site, where installation is fast and simple, and non-dependent on weather conditions. Therefore, overall installation time and costs are reduced dramatically, with guaranteed aesthetic quality,” Weber highlights.
In addition, the ACT System provides for a complete service from a single source. A free online design program is available to engineers and architects at www.upat.co.za. Fixing specialists at the ACT Competence Centre are also able to offer architects, specifiers, and craftsmen comprehensive support, from the planning stage and static calculations to on-time delivery.
