JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Junior gold company ABM Resources has achieved the first gold pour at the Old Pirate deposit in the Northern Territory, MD Darren Holden announced on Thursday.

The company has scheduled further gold pours, which would take place on a regular basis.

ABM is using the Coyote processing plant under a lease agreement with Tanami Gold.

To date, mainly low-grade ore (less than 4 g/t gold) blended with limited medium grade (4 g/t to 10 g/t gold) and high grade (more than 10 g/t) ore parcels had been fed into the circuit for commissioning purposes. ABM said that gold inventory was still accumulating in the circuit and that it could not yet provide accurate reconciliation or recovery calculations.

“Based on mill feed, leach feed and tailings assay grades, early indications show that the targeted high gravity and total recoveries can be achieved,” ABM stated.

Commissioning work indicated a full-time throughput rate of about 25 000 t/y. The company intended to process 150 000 t of ore over the first year of operation and would operate the plant on a campaign milling basis of two weeks on, and one week off.
