Company Announcement - Verni-Speciality Construction Products, who are manufacturers and specialist applicators of construction chemicals undertook the challenge to pump 114 Tons of Verni-Non Shrink Grout to the crusher plant in Mogalakwena Division for Anglo American Platinum Mines in a mere sixteen hours! Verni completed the intense induction process over two weeks, with KBC really coming to the party and assigning a facilitator to them within one day! Medicals were undergone and the highly skilled team could establish site. The Crusher had a maximum shutdown period of seven days. Verni had thirty-two skilled labourers on site, all of which were split into two teams to work two shifts.

Whilst on site, the teams had strict safety precautions to adhere to, which included toolbox talks, risk assessments and a system of lockout. Lockout is where a person is given a key, and at random questioned where his key is and to which lock it unlocks, this ensures that the staff are alert and able to perform their duties.

And as we were all winding up our Friday heading home, Verni staff were commencing with this news breaking project! Grout was being mixed using two heavy duty pan-mixers which had to be pumped using a suitable concrete pump, within fifteen minutes from mixing. Each of their teams mixed approximately 57 tons per shift, which is 7,125 Kg’s every hour, or about 119 Kg’s per minute! Verni successfully completed the project at 08h00am the following morning! “Truly impressive stuff” concludes Verni’s Contracts Manager.
