Limpopo

Limpopo is a province of South Africa, situated in the far north of the country. Its capital is Polokwane. The province shares international borders with Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique, making it a strategic gateway for regional trade and cross-border economic activity. Limpopo's economy is anchored in mining, agriculture and tourism. The province is rich in mineral resources, including platinum-group metals, chrome, coal, diamonds and copper, and hosts significant mining operations in the Bushveld Complex. Agriculture is dominated by subtropical and citrus fruit production, particularly in the Letsitele and Tzaneen areas, as well as livestock farming and game ranching. Tourism centres on the southern portion of the Kruger National Park and numerous private game reserves. Limpopo is one of South Africa's least urbanised and most rural provinces, with a population heavily reliant on subsistence farming and remittances. Infrastructure development, water scarcity and unemployment remain persistent challenges. The province plays an important role in South Africa's agricultural exports, particularly citrus destined for European and Asian markets.
