Buti Manamela

Buti Manamela is a South African politician who has served in various ministerial and deputy ministerial roles within the national government. He is a member of the African National Congress and has been particularly active in the education and training sector. Manamela served as Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, where he was involved in overseeing tertiary education policy, student funding programmes, and skills development initiatives. His portfolio included engagement with the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) and other mechanisms supporting access to higher education. Prior to his role in higher education, he held the position of Deputy Minister in the Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation. Manamela has been a vocal advocate for youth development and transformation in South Africa's education system. He has appeared before Parliament on numerous occasions to account for departmental performance and policy implementation. His political career has been marked by his focus on addressing inequality in access to education and training opportunities. Manamela represents a generation of ANC leaders who rose through the party's youth structures and student movements before assuming government office.
