Africa GreenCo

Africa GreenCo is a power intermediary company that facilitates renewable-energy procurement and power trading in sub-Saharan Africa. The company is headquartered in Zambia and operates across multiple African markets, focusing on bridging the gap between independent power producers and off-takers such as utilities, mines and commercial consumers. Africa GreenCo acts as a creditworthy intermediary, purchasing electricity from renewable-energy generators under long-term power purchase agreements and selling it to end-users, thereby mitigating counterparty risk and enabling project financing for clean-energy developments. The company's business model is designed to accelerate the energy transition by providing a reliable off-take solution for renewable-energy projects in markets where utilities may face financial or credit constraints. Africa GreenCo works closely with development finance institutions, governments and private-sector partners to structure bankable power transactions. The company plays a strategic role in unlocking renewable-energy investment across the continent, particularly in countries seeking to diversify their energy mix and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Its operations support grid stability and energy security by aggregating supply from multiple generators and managing demand-side requirements. Africa GreenCo was established to address the financing and off-take challenges that have historically hindered renewable-energy deployment in Africa, and it continues to expand its footprint as the continent's clean-energy sector grows.
