Further, the company plans to enlarge its business operations to focus on specific industry sectors, including the provision of engineering and management services to the hydropyro metallurgical and mine- rals-processing industries, as well as industrial plant and commercial building services.
It is a subsidiary company of Read, Swatman and Voigt (RSV), a well-established organisation which operates internationally in the mining, metallurgical, industrial and petrochemicals industries, in Africa, the Americas, and Australia.
“This partnership enables us to focus on our core business as corporate services are provided by RSV,” says Symonds.
The company was established in February this year and expanded rapidly – it is currently involved in projects with an estimated capital value of between R600-million and R750-million.
The company’s project speciality is gold plant projects, and a good example is the CIP plant, where it has progressed to the detailed design phase.
The company is also working on a uranium project, in which it has reached a detailed budget phase.
Further, the company is consulting on a new heavy-minerals project in the sub-Saharan Africa region.
It has completed a number of feasibility studies in the platinum industry and other projects are in the materials-handling industry. Black economic empowerment and skills “Our vision for black economic empowerment is that we endea- vour to empower our employees in the field to learn skills by tapping into our knowledge base,” says Symonds.
The company sees the transfer of skills to the employee as the best form of real empowerment.
Probably, the company’s strongest point is the combination it has amongst the people.
Project teams gel together as a unit, however, this module is also aimed at improving the company as a multitasking company.
Employees in the company have more than one role and all are contributing towards the knowledge base in more than one project. However, a team is designed to suit the client. The company has a culture of adapting to the situation, bearing in mind that it operates in an ever-changing environment, especially working in Southern Africa. The company strives all the time to consult in a professional manner and is always focused on trying to compete for the next job, concludes Symonds.
