Danish North Sea, about 22 km from Thorsminde, on the west coast of Jutland.

RWE (51%) and Norges Bank Investment Management (49%). RWE is responsible for construction and operations throughout the project’s life cycle.
Project Description
RWE plans to build Denmark’s biggest offshore wind power plant to date, with the capacity to produce enough green electricity to supply the equivalent of more than one-million Danish households.
The 1 100 MW wind farm will comprise 72 offshore wind turbines, each with a capacity of 15 MW and a 236-m-diameter rotor with a swept area of 43 500 m².

The project is expected to create up to 60 permanent jobs.

Testing and full commissioning are scheduled for completion by spring 2027, with full commercial operation planned for 2027.
Latest Developments
RWE had installed 36 of the project’s 72 turbines by July 17, 2026, marking the halfway point in the offshore turbine-installation campaign.
Installation is being undertaken from the Port of Esbjerg using Fred Olsen Windcarrier’s Brave Tern installation vessel.
Thor will be the first offshore wind farm to use 36 carbon-reduced steel turbine towers from Siemens Gamesa. Forty turbines will also be fitted with 120 recyclable rotor blades.
