Founded in 1962, Steinmüller Africa is a long-established provider of power plant services, manufacturing, and engineering solutions to national and regional utilities. The company focuses on steam generation and reticulation infrastructure for industries such as power generation, petrochemicals, sugar, and pulp and paper.

Its Pretoria-based workshop is equipped with advanced fabrication and specialised welding machinery, enabling the production of high-quality, locally manufactured components. Steinmüller Africa aims to deliver services across the full plant lifecycle, including engineering design, fabrication of pressure parts and piping, plant construction, maintenance, and life-extension solutions for industrial facilities.

The company offers a wide range of products and services, including boiler pressure parts, high-pressure heaters, piping systems, plant erection, explosive welding, milling plant maintenance, commissioning, and testing services. Its engineering teams address complex challenges in both brownfield expansions and greenfield projects. In-house capabilities cover front-end and detailed designs of boilers, heat exchangers, and piping systems, supported by process, mechanical, structural, and welding engineering expertise, as well as drawing office services.

Fabrication processes include assembly, welding, induction and cold bending, heat treatment, and explosive welding, supporting the production of a range of high-pressure components. The piping division provides induction bending across various material grades, such as carbon steel, alloys, and stainless steel, positioning it as a one-stop shop for induction bending requirements.

Steinmüller Africa’s welding division combines certified expertise, advanced technologies, and compliance with international standards, including specialised metal joining techniques such as explosive welding. The company also operates furnaces capable of reaching temperatures up to 1 200 °C, enabling precise post-weld heat treatment critical to ensuring the integrity and quality of high-pressure components and pipelines.

On-site services include mechanical erection, shutdown support, pressure part installation, and plant maintenance, along with plant and equipment hire for construction and refurbishment projects. Field technical services provide maintenance engineering, commissioning, and process engineering support, with capabilities for both planned and unplanned maintenance activities.

In addition, the company offers drone inspection services with survey-grade accuracy, enabling the creation of detailed 3D maps and digital models of inaccessible areas.

Steinmüller Africa holds Level 1 broad-based black economic empowerment status and maintains numerous compliance certifications and accreditations.

The company will exhibit at Electra Mining Africa, taking place from September 7 to 11 at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec.
