A new version of a sturdy tablet running on the Android operating system, is now available.

The tablet is seen as an advancement in rugged handheld computing and data collection for Android-based application needs. Running on Android 9.0, the tablet gives users access to the Google Play Store and aims to provide the data collecting, mapping and productivity applications that could be required in the field.

The Mesa 3 rugged tablet is backed by Juniper Systems and includes an octa-core processor from Qualcomm, with 6 GB of system memory that is said to allow for more demanding tasks, larger datasheets and more programs running at once on the device.

The company explains that the tablet is ergonomically designed and that the case is the device, rather than a device covered by a hard case.

The tablet has an IP68 rating and meets MIL-STD-810G test procedures, which means that it is waterproof, dustproof, and shockproof. It provides 64 GB of onboard storage as well as an expandable storage option via a microSD card. This allows for more recordkeeping, applications, and safe-keeping of data. In addition, the tablet is able to use hot-swappable batteries with the aim being to keep the tablet constantly available.
