President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that, following consultation with the leadership of the Democratic Alliance as a member of the Government of National Unity, a number of changes have been made to the national executive.

As widely reported in recent weeks, John Steenhuisen has been appointed Trade, Industry and Competition Deputy Minister, while Willem Aucamp has been appointed Agriculture Minister and David Maynier Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment Minister.

On June 17, DA leader Geordin Hill-Lewis requested that Ramaphosa remove Steenhuisen as Agriculture Minister and that Aucamp take over the portfolio.

Alexandra Abrahams has been appointed Electricity and Energy Deputy Minister, Jack Bloom Water and Sanitation Deputy Minister and Yusuf Cassim Higher Education Deputy Minister.

Ramaphosa has also appointed Dina Pule as Social Development Minister.
