ASX-listed Arizona Lithium has appointed Calgary-based Rhythm Engineering as drilling contractor for the Prairie lithium project, in Saskatchewan, Canada.

MD Paul Lloyd says Arizona was impressed with the proposal from Rhythm and is confident that the contractor will complete the task with speed and quality.

The upcoming drilling programme will focus on the Dawson Bay and Souris River formations, two deeper zones identified as prospective for enriched lithium brine. These formations, lying below the Duperow formation, have not been previously explored for their lithium potential.

The company anticipates the commencement of drilling activities on the prepared Pad #1 in the second quarter of 2024, with further drilling planned on Pads #2 and #3.

These efforts are expected to significantly contribute to the project's goal of producing 6 000 t of lithium carbonate equivalent, moving Arizona closer to its target of initiating lithium brine production in the first quarter of 2025.
