A new vertical stainless steel multi-stage pump has been launched. The pump has a maximum head of 400 m and can be fitted with an electric motor of up to 200 kW in size.

The Grundfos XL CR 185  is said to offer higher flow rates and delivery heads while still achieving optimal energy efficiency. Part of its CR range, Grundfos highlights that the design approach for the robust pump is based on reliability, quality and efficiency, achieving cost savings in energy consumption, maintenance and total cost of ownership.

The pump is suitable for a range of applications as a pressure booster in industry, mines and commercial buildings, as well as for water utilities requiring high pressure delivery. An additional advantage of the vertical orientation of the pump is its reduced footprint, which means that it requires a smaller floor area and reduces the cost of civil works in the construction of buildings.

In addition, the pump has a basic modular design, allowing stages to be increased as required and giving easier access to components for ease of servicing and maintenance.

The company asserts that each component in the pump has undergone extensive testing, ensuring the highest level of quality and reliability in the final product. The Grundfos XL CR 185 model is manufactured by Grundfos in Denmark, where it is thoroughly tested before being dispatched to South Africa for the sub-Saharan African market. The local ISO-certified Grundfos facility based in Johannesburg, South Africa assembles CR pumps up to the CR 155 model.
