Construction company Grinaker Building & Construction says it is making progress in building the multi-level, heavy-duty structural concrete parkade at State-owned Transnet’s headquarters, in Johannesburg.

The company is targeting the delivery of a fully operational parkade and a dedicated guardhouse facility to support secure access management by August 31.

The structural works are advancing well and the project team remains focused on sustaining the programme momentum that has been established to date, the company says.

As of June, the project is progressing well through its structural phase and has a highly experienced project team in place.

Construction is currently active across both the east and west sections of the parkade, with a dual-workfront approach having been adopted to ensure maximum efficiency across the full extent of the site.

On the west section, the third-floor slab is now complete. The team is currently progressing column reinforcement and rebar fixing for the lift shaft walls in preparation for upcoming formwork and concrete pours.

Further, on the east section, concrete for the first-floor columns was cast during the final week of May, and the site team is preparing the completed deck to receive the concrete slab that will anchor the second level of the east structure.

Grinaker was appointed to deliver both the engineering design and full construction of this development.
