Expo to highlight safety

LIVE DEMONSTRATION By seeing fire prevention solutions live, visitors will be able to compare performance, understand implementation requirements and identify the most effective options for their specific environments
EARLY RISK DETECTION For engineering and infrastructure, fire prevention plays a direct role in protecting people, assets and operations, enabling the ability to detect risks early and respond effectively, significantly reducing damage, downtime and liability
Integrating fire protection with security, building management systems, ventilation and energy infrastructure allows for faster detection, coordinated response and more efficient evacuation processes, says event management company Montgomery Group Africa.
“Fire prevention is no longer a standalone function. It forms part of a broader approach to risk management, compliance and infrastructure performance,” Montgomery Group Africa portfolio director Mark Anderson states.
As such, Firexpo 2026 is co-located with Securex South Africa, A-OSH EXPO, Facilities Management Expo and RE+ South Africa, providing visitors with access to a full spectrum of security, safety and facilities management, as well as fire and energy solutions, in one place.
The event – to be held at the Gallagher Convention Centre, in Johannesburg, from June 2 to 4 – aims to bring together the technologies, systems and expertise required to reduce fire risk, improve compliance and protect assets.
Additionally, the show floor will feature hands-on engagement with fire prevention and safety systems, including demonstrations, live product showcases and a free-to-attend seminar theatre with sessions on compliance, engineering standards and risk management.
Proactive Strategies
Across South Africa, organisations are facing stricter fire safety regulations, increased insurance scrutiny and more complex building environments, driving a shift from reactive response to proactive fire-prevention strategies, says Anderson.
Meanwhile, the adoption of smart fire- detection systems, AI and real-time analytics is shifting fire prevention into the realm of proactive risk management.
“There is a strong uptake of AI-enabled video analytics, thermal imaging and integrated monitoring platforms, particularly in large commercial buildings, logistics hubs and industrial facilities,” Anderson explains.
As such, those attending Firexpo 2026 can explore solutions that support fire prevention across multiple applications, including early detection systems with advanced monitoring and analytics, fire suppression technologies, passive fire protection materials and structural solutions, as well as risk assessment tools and compliance management systems.
Seeing these solutions in real time will enable visitors to compare performance, understand implementation requirements and identify the most effective options for their specific environments.
Responsible Approach
Environmental considerations are increasingly influencing fire suppression system design, particularly when global pressure to phase out harmful chemicals, such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances.
Innovation has shifted focus to clean agent systems, water-efficient technologies and alternative suppression methods that reduce environmental impact while maintaining performance, Anderson adds.
Firexpo 2026 will provide a platform to explore these eco-friendly solutions in a practical context, as “the focus remains on integration, efficiency and practical application, giving visitors clear insight into the real value available across the show floor”, he concludes.
