Bayer has emerged a winner in the 2016/2017 Ask AfriKa Icon Brands Survey. Bayer scooped accolades in the Wellness Category for Berocca in both the 2016/2017 Ask AfriKa Icon Brands and 2016/2017 Ask AfriKa Youth Brands surveys as well  for Zam Buk in the Lip Salves Category in the 2016/2017 Ask AfriKa Youth Brands Survey. These accolades come in recognition of Bayer’s commitment to the South African consumer market.

“We are delighted to have received such recognition, considering the sheer number of brands that were included in the initial analysis,” says Tasniem Patel Head of Communications, Bayer Southern Africa. “This award is a reaffirmation of the quality, trust and respect that Bayer’s brand’s stand for.”

The Icon Brands are brands which unite a nation; brands used most loyally by consumers across age, income, race and language spectrums. The winning brands are voted for by consumers who rank them as being the best in their category in a nation-wide survey conducted by Target Group Index (TGI), the largest single source consumer brand and lifestyle survey in South Africa. “These are brands that define a common experience, often on a daily basis, to which consumers are committed in a real sense, often seeking these brands out when travelling outside of their home country. As such, consumers voted for their favourites with their hearts and their wallets,” says Maria Petousis, TGI Director at Ask AfriKa.

“The growing middle-class is a big market for us and we want to be part of the conversation with these consumers, developing richer and deeper brand experiences that make a difference. There is no doubt that brands are becoming more competitive and for Bayer, commitment is key, we are constantly striving to gain a deeper understanding of our customers. The Ask AfriKa Icon Brands awards drive us to continue working towards creating a better life through sciences by helping our customers to take better care of themselves and those they love by promoting wellness,” concludes Patel.
