Atlas Copco Power Technique supports its portable range of generators, air compressors, light towers, pumps and hand-held tools with several online solutions that enable customers, with the click of a button, to connect with their machines and equipment, access essential product information and make online purchases 24/7.

The online platforms, which include Parts Online, Shop Online, Power Connect, FleetLink and Learning Link, can all be easily and conveniently accessed by Atlas Copco customers and distributors on any smart device.

“We have developed these smart online solutions to promote customers’ sustainable productivity by boosting product performance and efficiencies, and extending life cycles, while also trimming carbon footprints,” states Douw van Schalkwyk, Business Line Manager for Power Technique’s Service Division.

Douw unpacks the online portfolio. “First up is our interactive, up-to-date spare parts catalogue system, Parts Online, which enables customers and distributors to find the right spare parts and consumables for their Atlas Copco portable machines and equipment. Once customers have selected the spares they need, they can order straight away by transferring the items to our e-commerce platform, Atlas Copco Shop Online (soon to become Spare Parts webshop). This system offers all the benefits typical of online shopping - checking of price and availability, tracing of deliveries, etc. anytime, from anywhere.”

Going hand in glove with these two user-friendly platforms is Atlas Copco Power Connect. This portal links customers directly to their machines’ spare parts catalogues (hosted on Parts Online) where they can choose their products before proceeding to Shop Online to place their order.

Douw explains that if customers do not have the relevant part number, they can simply enter the serial number of their machine in Power Connect or easier still, scan the QR code (the serial number and QR code are located on the data plate on all Atlas Copco products). This will provide customers with split-second access to clear technical details of their portable equipment including machine, component and warranty information, technical drawings, instruction manuals, etc. “It is so convenient to have all this information in one place,” says Douw adding that Power Connect even provides service videos on machine start up, trouble shooting, etc. Customers can also share their machine information on this online portal.

Taking it one step further, Atlas Copco also offers a smart fleet management solution – FleetLink. This intelligent telematics system enables customers, including rental companies, to monitor and manage their entire Atlas Copco machine fleet remotely. Once downloaded from Google Play and Apple Stores, the FleetLink app keeps customers connected to job-sites, machines and teams, providing access to information from any location at any time.

FleetLink features Geo- and time-fencing as well as running hours-based service (service notifications), ensuring complete control of machines for accurate fleet monitoring on connectivity data. Customers can proactively plan maintenance and respond rapidly to a breakdown.

FleetLink Connectivity hardware is built into and connected to the controller of the customer’s compressor, generator or pump. The hardware, SmartBox or CoreBox, retrieves all data from the equipment and sends it directly to the customisable dashboard where it is transformed into actionable data that is easy to process and manage.

The dashboard provides an easy view of vital information such as machine running status, running hours, fuel consumption, engine load, vessel pressure, air flow or power load, performance indicators as well as service status and notifications. What is more, customers can keep an eye on their operational expenses by setting up automatic daily or weekly reports. A remote Function Lockout which allows customers to remotely switch off their machine in undesired periods is also available on this state-of-the-art digital monitoring tool. By having the latest fleet information at their fingertips, customers can efficiently manage their machines based on the system’s smart recommendations, subsequently reducing maintenance costs and optimising their fleet usage.

“We also have a solution for customers whose generators and/or compressors aren’t brand new,” states Douw. “The FleetLink RetroFit Kit, which contains the SmartBox, will still give customers access to the FleetLink connectivity.”

“We have also developed an online training platform, Learning Link, to support our distributors who are an important route to market,” says Douw. “This platform ensures that our distributors remain up to date with Atlas Copco’s latest products and technological advancements.”

“As a customer-focussed organisation, we are committed to building lasting relationships. So when customers invest in our products, we offer them a complete solution. We remain with them every step of the way throughout their products’ life cycle. Our value adding online digital platforms are an integral part of our service offering, keeping our customers connected and ensuring optimal, reliable and efficient product performance for complete peace of mind,” concludes Douw.
