Liam Jacobs

Liam Jacobs is a South African politician serving in local government. He holds a position within the Patriotic Alliance (PA), a political party that has gained representation in various municipalities and at national level. Jacobs has been involved in municipal governance, particularly in Gauteng province, where the PA has secured council seats and participated in coalition arrangements. The Patriotic Alliance, founded in 2013, has positioned itself as a party focused on issues affecting coloured and working-class communities, and has been part of coalition governments at local and national level. Jacobs represents the party's presence in local government structures, where coalition politics have become increasingly important following the decline of single-party majorities in many South African municipalities. His role reflects the PA's strategy of leveraging its electoral support to secure positions in government and influence policy at municipal level. The party entered the Government of National Unity formed after the 2024 general election, gaining national ministerial positions including the Department of Sports, Arts, and Culture under Gayton McKenzie. Jacobs's activities in local government align with the PA's broader political objectives of addressing service delivery and governance challenges in South African municipalities.
