GOOD

GOOD is a South African political party founded in 2018 by former Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille. The party's name stands for its stated values of governance, opportunity, ownership and dignity. GOOD positions itself as a centrist alternative focused on clean governance, economic inclusion and service delivery. The party has contested national and provincial elections, with its strongest support base in the Western Cape. GOOD advocates for anti-corruption measures, investment in public infrastructure and policies to address inequality. The party holds seats in the National Assembly and has participated in coalition governance arrangements at municipal level. GOOD's policy platform includes healthcare reform, education improvement and support for small business development. The party emerged from De Lille's departure from the Democratic Alliance and her criticism of governance failures in major metropolitan areas. GOOD seeks to appeal to voters disillusioned with both the ruling party and the main opposition.
