BHP

BHP (BHP Group) is a global resources company and one of the world's largest mining corporations. Headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, the company is dual-listed on the Australian Securities Exchange and the London Stock Exchange. BHP operates across multiple continents, with significant mining and processing operations in Australia, the Americas and other regions. The company's core business focuses on the extraction and processing of major commodities including iron-ore, copper, metallurgical coal, nickel and potash. BHP holds a leading market position in iron-ore production, particularly through its extensive operations in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, where it operates some of the world's largest iron-ore mines. The company employs tens of thousands of people globally and generates annual revenues exceeding tens of billions of dollars. BHP has been actively pursuing decarbonisation initiatives and investing in technologies to reduce emissions across its operations, including renewable energy projects and electric vehicle adoption in its mining fleet. Principal assets include the Escondida copper mine in Chile, the Olympic Dam polymetallic mine in South Australia and the Western Australia Iron Ore operations. The company was formed through the 2001 merger of the Australian Broken Hill Proprietary Company, founded in 1885, and the British Billiton plc, and simplified its name to BHP Group in 2017.
