South Africa-founded and -based electronics and software solutions manufacturer Accutrak will exhibit its latest mobile-enabled software that allows mine production managers to trace real-time production volumes on a smartphone mobile device at this year’s West African Mining and Power Exhibition (Wampex), which will take place at the Accra International Conference Centre in Ghana from May 28 to 30.

Company MD Pierre Swart says Accutrak designs, develops and supplies production-maximising systems for tracking and weighing in the mining environment. “We have enjoyed strong growth over the past three years and I strongly believe there are growth opportunities in African markets, which are growing much faster than other world markets at the moment. Last year we established a branch in Zambia and this year we are opening a branch in Ghana,” he says.

Swart adds that Wampex is a great platform for finding opportunities in West Africa and for establishing relationships with relevant industry stakeholders.

Accutrak has installed tracking and weighing systems in 14 of the biggest mines in South Africa, including its Smartrail and Accuchip systems at platinum mining major Anglo American Platinum’s Tumela mine, in Thabazimbi. The company also installed its Smartrail system at the London-listed Vedanta Resources’ Konkola copper mine, in Zambia.

“Our systems provide accurate production measurements, increased hopper loading and continuous shift monitoring for better control and supervision of production team goals. They also measure contractors’ performance and production output,” details Swart.

Accutrak will exhibit its top three products at Wampex, including Smartrail, Accuchip and Trakload.

Smartrail is a railbound tracking and weighing system that monitors and reports volumes of ore mined daily, for the mine as a whole, and each shaft, level works area and box.

Accuchip is a material car handling system that manages the availability and use of various material cars for the underground mining environment. Trakload is a trackless tracing and weighing solution.
