The South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (Necsa) has publicly disputed media allegations implying that a delay in the publication of its annual report is attributable to a financial crisis facing the company.

The organisation said on Friday that it had on Thursday informed a scheduled meeting of Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Energy that its annual report was being finalised, pending ongoing discussions with the Auditor-General (AG).

“This was also confirmed by the AG in his report to the same committee on Tuesday.  While the company cannot disclose the matters under discussion with the AG, these in no way imply a problem with its finances,” it held.
