A range of GCP waterproofing membrane solutions are available from Chryso Southern Africa to contractors and engineers on construction projects across Africa.

Solutions in the range include BITUTHENE 3000 and low temperature membranes, PREPRUFE 120S pre-applied membrane and PREPRUFE detailing liquid membrane (DLM). The membranes are engineered for specific site conditions, ease of installation and long term waterproofing integrity.

BITUTHENE 3000 is a self-adhesive high-performance membrane designed for critical waterproofing applications in basements, retaining walls and substructures. It combines a cross-laminated high-density polyethylene film with a self-adhesive rubberised asphalt layer, designed to provide optimum adhesion, tear resistance and durability. It is specifically suited for challenging environments in both commercial and infrastructure projects.

For projects where colder conditions can impact installation, BITUTHENE low temperature membrane is recommended, featuring a special adhesive formulation designed to allow easier handling and application in lower ambient temperatures.

The PREPRUFE 120S membrane is a fully adhered, pre-applied waterproofing system that forms a permanent bond to concrete, designed to prevent water migration and protection against ingress even if the membrane is damaged during construction. This feature is particularly suitable for deep basements, tunnels and other below-grade structures where water pressure can be significant.

PREPRUFE DLM has been developed to deliver the same pre-applied fully bonded performance in horizontal applications, offering durability, chemical resistance and protection for waterproofing details.

“These membranes are proven in projects worldwide and have been extensively tested in the harsh conditions often encountered locally,” said Chryso Southern Africa specialty materials head: infrastructure BU Andries Janse van Rensburg, adding that the company also provides technical support to ensure correct specification, detailing and installation.
