Mechanical-pipe-joining systems manufacturer Victaulic has extended its patented installation-ready line, making Style 107 QuickVic rigid couplings for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems available in DN250-DN300 10- and 12-inch sizes.

The additional sizes provide more opportunities for contractors, engineers and owners to increase efficiency by reducing installation time and increasing safety, says Victaulic Africa regional manager Barry van Jaarsveld.

The Style 107 range of couplings expedites project construction by reducing installation steps and requiring only standard hand tools for assembly.

Features of the installation-ready technology from Victaulic include no loose parts and no need to disassemble before installation – the coupling is simply pushed onto the pipe-end as a fully assembled unit, joined by a second pipe end and tightened, explains Van Jaarsveld.

“Installation is completed twice as fast as [the installation for] standard grooved couplings and up to ten times faster than welding and flanging, while the Style 107 range offers the same high-performance capabilities,” he says, adding that no flame or heat is required for installation, which improves job-site safety.

The Style 107 range accommodates pressures ranging from full vacuum up to 750 psi, depending on pipe diameter and wall thickness. Couplings are supplied with a grade EHP ethylene propylene diene monomer gasket, which has a temperature range of –34 ºC to 121 ºC.

Benefits
Installation-ready couplings are designed for rapid installation and produce greater efficiencies for customers, says Van Jaarsveld.

Owners, contractors, and engineers benefit from not only time savings when using the Style 107 coupling but also cost savings, safety improvements and greater ease of use, he adds.

Further, he notes that while the Style 107 variants were only recently released, they are generating much interest in the market.

The Style 107 QuickVic rigid couplings were recently installed in the HVAC riser at Standard Bank’s head office, in Rosebank, Johannesburg, for 200 mm chilled water and 150 mm hot water systems.

Van Jaarsveld highlights that the couplings are suitable for utility, process and mining applications, as they were, for example installed in copper miner Palabora’s main headgear cooling system in Limpopo, where Victaulic couplings and accessories replaced a flanged solution.

The Style 107 coupling was developed in the US and is manufactured to the same standards as those maintained by the company’s global manufacturing facilities.
