Volvo

Volvo is a Swedish multinational manufacturing company headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden. The company operates across multiple sectors, including trucks, buses, construction equipment, marine and industrial engines, and historically passenger cars. Volvo Group is one of the world's largest manufacturers of heavy-duty trucks and construction equipment, with operations in more than 190 markets worldwide. The company is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm and employs around 100 000 people globally. Volvo's core product lines include Volvo Trucks, Renault Trucks, Mack Trucks, and Volvo Construction Equipment, alongside its Volvo Penta marine and industrial engine division. The company maintains a strong market position in Europe, North America and increasingly in emerging markets across Asia and Africa. Volvo's construction equipment division supplies excavators, wheel loaders, articulated haulers and other machinery to mining, quarrying and infrastructure projects. In the African context, Volvo equipment is widely deployed in mining operations, road construction and large-scale infrastructure development. The company was founded in 1927 and divested its passenger car division to Ford in 1999, which was subsequently sold to China's Geely Holding in 2010, though the Volvo Group and Volvo Cars remain separate entities.
