Draft national AI policy flags healthcare as priority sectorSouth Africa's Department of Communications and Digital Technologies published its Draft National Artificial Intelligence Policy on April 10, 2026, with public comment closing on June 10, 2026. The policy names healthcare, education, agriculture and public administration as priority sectors and proposes a risk-based regulatory approach with six new oversight bodies, including a National AI Commission and an AI Ethics Board.
