CNOOC

CNOOC (China National Offshore Oil Corporation) is a Chinese state-owned oil and gas company specialising in offshore exploration, development and production. Headquartered in Beijing, it is one of China's three major national oil companies alongside Sinopec and PetroChina. The company operates across more than 40 countries and regions, with activities spanning exploration and production, liquefied natural gas, refining and chemicals, and new energy. CNOOC Limited, the listed subsidiary, trades on the Hong Kong and Shanghai stock exchanges and is majority-owned by the parent corporation. The group's core assets include offshore fields in the Bohai Bay, South China Sea and East China Sea, as well as international ventures in Africa, South-East Asia, the Middle East and the Americas. In Africa, CNOOC has participated in major upstream projects in Uganda, Nigeria and other jurisdictions, often in partnership with international oil majors. The company reported annual revenue exceeding $50-billion and employs tens of thousands of people worldwide. CNOOC was established in 1982 as part of China's economic reform programme to develop the country's offshore petroleum resources. It has since grown into a Fortune Global 500 enterprise and a significant player in global energy markets, with a strategic focus on securing energy supplies for China's economy.
