South African heavy equipment manufacturer Bell Equipment received the Innovation for Surface Mining Award at the Mining Equipment Manufacturers of South Africa Awards in May for its G160 and G200 motor grader range. The models, launched locally in June 2025, are the first mining graders designed and built in South Africa to contain more than 70% local content and have been sold into coal and manganese mines.
Afrimat reports productivity gains from 4×4 articulated dump trucksConstruction materials producer Afrimat has noted immediate production improvements at its Lyttleton dolomite mine since adding four Bell B30E 4×4 articulated dump trucks to its operation. The quarry's hauling cycle times shortened by one minute on a ten-minute cycle while carrying the same 28 t loads as 6×6 models, and the trucks also deliver better fuel efficiency and reduced tyre wear.
