The Audi A5 has won the Premium category and the Audi RS Q8 has claimed the Performance category in the 2026 South African Car of the Year competition, announced by the South African Guild of Mobility Journalists in May. The two models were among 18 finalists selected from more than 55 qualifying vehicles launched in 2025, with the competition marking its fortieth year.

Motus has responded by placing Volkswagen and Audi under the same dealership roof in some instances, though the company emphasises it has no plans to abandon the brands, which still trade at high volumes.
