Rand Water is preparing to implement planned 40-hour maintenance on its H5 pipeline from June 9 to 12, impacting water provision to some parts of the City of Ekurhuleni.

The planned maintenance, which includes the tie-in of a new portion of the H5 pipeline to the existing H5 pipeline, forms part of Rand Water’s augmentation strategy to refurbish and upgrade its infrastructure to ensure future sustainability.

Accordingly, some residents of the City of Ekurhuleni will experience water supply shortages during the maintenance project.

Having formally been informed through the issuance of 21-day advance notification by Rand Water, the City of Ekurhuleni will communicate the impact on water supply and the full list of affected areas to its customers, Rand Water said in a statement on Wednesday.
