AMEA Power subsidiary Kairouan Solar Plant. The project is being built under a build, own and operate model.

Project Description
AMEA plans to build a 120 MW solar photovoltaic project, which will generate 222 GWh/y of clean energy, enough to power more than 43 000 households.

The plant will avoid the emission of 117 000 t of carbon dioxide over the course of its operation.

Capital Expenditure
$86-million. The project is being financed by the International Finance Corporation and the African Development Bank.

Planned Start/End Date
The project reached financial close in September 2023. The solar plant is expected to be commissioned by mid-2025.
