Women lead in male populated sectors

Pinpoint Stewards a 100% women owned training and conferencing company had a vision to profile women and their contribution to the economy within the Engineering, Infrastructure and Mining sectors by hosting an onsite conference. The vision has become a reality as women are still registering for the Women & Leadership conference taking place on 6 and 7 April at the Oubaai Hotel & Spa, George, Western Cape.

Creating workplaces in which women will not only survive but thrive, Green Engineering and the future of Renewable energies, Mentoring women in STEM, Providing equal benefits and remuneration for women towards equality and overcoming challenges in male populated industries are some of the issues to be discussed at the Women and Leadership conference next month.

The conference organisers has lined up 12 speakers, including Department of Transport and Public Works (Western Cape Govt), Chief Director: Roads Design Melanie Hofmeyr, Chairperson Tamara Mathebula Commission for Gender Equality, Ditsogo Engineering & Mining CEO Tebogo Mosito, Director Faith Mabena, Nokhanya Services,   CEO & Executive Director Lisa Reynolds Green Building Council of SA, and representing young professionals Renee Petersen, Civil Engineering Technologist SMEC SA to name a few.

Engineering news has backed this event to ensure equal reporting for women-focused development and to ensure women are profiled for their contribution to these sectors. Other partners include ECSA and WiMSA.

The conference will also tackle GBV plaguing many nations today through funding, therefore a percentage of their   profits for the conference will be donated, to each, the Lighthouse Baby Shelter and WiMSA do ensure further development and mentoring of young women. Pinpoint Stewards, an all women-owned level two B-BBEE company, will also make the conference available to all universities and high schools, to connect with them through video conferencing, as part of supporting young women to lead.

The conference organisers called on exhibitors to support this initiative and showcase opportunities available to women. Delegate seats are limited to comply with Covid-19 protocols.
