Weight management wellness app powered by artificial intelligence

The ‘Tweak & Eat’ app focuses on healthy eating and weight management

An artificial intelligence- (AI-) powered wellness application (app) focused on healthy eating and weight management, is set to be launched in South Africa soon.

California-based mobile health (mHealth) service provider PurpleTeal and Mondia, a private mobile commerce company, announced the signing of a strategic partnership to integrate and distribute the ‘Tweak & Eat’ app to Mondia’s consumer base across multiple regions including South Africa, Oman and Saudi Arabia in phase one.

The app is designed to empower health-conscious users with ‘just-in-time’ meal advice (called ‘Tweaks’) from regionally-certified nutritionists who analyse the nutritional content of meals and provide suggestions to make the meals healthier.

‘Tweakyfai’, PurpleTeal’s proprietary AI platform, allows nutritionists to provide real-time meal advice and information to users by automating meal modification activities. This includes analysing and generating the nutritional profile of meals. Real-time assistance during meals is also available to users following specific diets to manage lifestyle-related health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and others.

“Digital-driven mobile health is a key component for the future of accessible, inclusive healthcare across the globe,” said Mondia Group CEO Dr Amadeo Rahmann.

The company highlights that its app has over two-million app downloads worldwide and, as of February 2021, was ranked as the third most trending app on the Google Play Store in the health and wellness category. The app is also said to be one of the top-performing health and wellness channels on YouTube with a growing monthly subscriber and engagement base.

“Tweak & Eat has gained great traction amongst health-conscious consumers across diverse markets. Mondia Health has an impressive footprint across 60 countries and this partnership gives us access to users in several of these countries. We are very excited about the possibilities that this partnership has to offer,” said PurpleTeal CEO Narayanan Ram.

The app is available for download on Android and iOS platforms.
