West Rand-based Watson-Marlow Bredel South Africa is a major supplier of peristaltic pumps to a wide range of industries, including mining, brewing, food and beverage, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, printing, agriculture, water, waste and environmental management.

The Watson-Marlow and Bredel range of peristaltic pumps has been distributed locally by Walter Becker South Africa since 1992. However, the distribution rights were bought back by the mother company in 2002, allowing it to be established in South Africa. The Watson-Marlow brand originated in the UK and Bredel in the Netherlands, with the two companies merging 17 years ago to form the largest peristaltic pumps company in the world.

The group’s products include the SPX range of industrial hose pumps, available in sizes from 10 mm to 100 mm, with flow rates from 0.3 ℓ/min
to 80 m3/h; Watson-Marlow high-precision peristaltic dosing pumps; MasoSine positive-displacement pumps; and the Flexicon range of filling and capping machines, which are ideal for the pharmaceuticals and cosmetics industries.

With its main premises at the Citrus street industrial park, in Honeydew, and branches in Rustenburg, Durban and Cape Town, Watson-Marlow Bredel South Africa employs 26 people.

The company, which complies with all European quality standards, lists as its highlights for 2012 the opening of the Cape Town branch, the launch of two products – the Watson-Marlow Qdos30 and Bredel Apex pumps – and a marked growth in exports into Africa.
