Location
On-shore Perth Basin, in Western Australia.

Project Owner/s
Waitsia Joint Venture (WJV), comprising Beach Energy (50%) and Mitsui E&P Australia (50%).

Project Description
The development involves the drilling of up to six wells, construction of a new 250 t/d gas processing facility and associated gas gathering infrastructure.

The gas processing agreement and associated agreements signed with the North West Shelf project participants will allow for 1.5-million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) a year of Waitsia gas to be tolled and processed into LNG through the North West Shelf facilities, in Karratha, between the second half of 2023 and the end of 2028.

Potential Job Creation
Waitsia will create about 200 jobs for Western Australians through the development of the state’s resources, construction of the new gas facility and its ongoing production.

Capital Expenditure
Total capital expenditure to first production is expected to be from A$700-million to A$800-million.

Planned Start/End Date
First LNG sales from Waitsia Stage 2 are expected to start in the second half of 2023.

Latest Developments
The WJV took a final investment decision on the project in December 2020.
