Venice offshore terminal project, Italy

Name of the Project
Venice offshore terminal project.

Location
Venice, Italy.

Client
Port of Venice.

Project Description
The offshore terminal off the Port of Venice will berth larger ships and bring economic and environmental benefits to the city. The project involves the construction of an offshore platform about 13 km off the Malamocco port mouth where the seabed has a natural depth of 20 m.

The offshore terminal will allow ultralarge ships to call at the Port of Venice without having to further dredge the existing lagoon channels.

The project will result in Venice being among the few ports in Italy where 20 000 twenty-foot-equivalent-unit ships will be able to berth. The terminal is expected to become the central link between the existing logistics centres and the maritime traffic generated by global trade.
