Project Description
Thermal power plant No 4 is Mongolia’s largest thermal power plant.
The power plant has a total capacity of 703 MW and accounts for about 70% of the electricity production to the central energy system in Mongolia.
The project will improve the efficiency of power generation and stabilise the supply of electricity and hot water by this plant. For six of the plant’s turbines, obsolete mechanical speed governors, and control systems and instrumentation will be replaced.
Value
¥2.1-billion. The project is financed by a Japanese ODA loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Duration
The first of the renovated turbines is expected to be returned to service in June 2017.
Latest Developments
Yokogawa has received an order to sup-ply turbine control systems for the project. In addition to supplying the integrated production control system for the control and monitoring of turbine governors and auxiliary facilities, Yokogawa will provide field services, such as differential pressure or pressure transmitters, liquid analysers, as well as control and safety valves.
The work will be undertaken in stages.
