Trans-Zambezi Railway Extension, Namibia

Name of the Project
Trans-Zambezi Railway Extension.

Location
Namibia.

Project Owner/s
Tsodilo Resources.

Project Description
A final feasibility study on the Trans-Zambezi Railway Extension has determined that the proposed 772 km greenfield line is viable from a technical, environmental, legal, financial and economic standpoint.

The extension will run from Grootfontein to Katima Mulilo through Rundu, in Namibia, and is part of a multinational railway line between Namibia and Zambia through the Zambezi region.

The cross-border rail project aims to link new mines and mining activities to the railway network along the Walvis Bay–Ndola–Lubumbashi Development Corridor to allow for the transport of minerals from the Copperbelt to Walvis Bay.

This corridor is perfectly positioned to service the two-way trade between the Southern African Development Community region, Europe, North and South America, as well as emerging markets in the East.
