Toyota’s Kirby elected as new Naamsa president

The National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (Naamsa) has appointed Toyota South Africa Motors CEO Andrew Kirby as president following the retirement of BMW Group South Africa boss Tim Abbott at the end of last year.

Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa MD Neale Hill retains his position as VP for original equipment manufacturers, as does Kia Motors CEO Gary Scott as VP for independent vehicle importers and distributors.

Scania South Africa MD Fabio Souza has been elected as new heavy commercial vehicles VP.

“Naamsa would like to take this time to thank Tim Abbott for his immeasurable contribution towards the development and growth of the automotive industry in South Africa. We wish him well in his future endeavours,” says the association in a statement.
