Louis von Zeuner has resigned as chairperson of sugar producer Tongaat Hulett, but will remain on the board until June 30 to ensure a smooth handover to interim chairperson David Noko.
Noko is lead independent nonexecutive director and will serve as interim chairperson until a successor is appointed.
The Tongaat board has started the process of identifying a suitable successor.
"The board would like to thank Mr Von Zeuner for his valuable contribution to the company and wishes him well in his future endeavours," the company noted in a statement to shareholders on May 19.
