State-of-the-art waterjet cutting machine commissioned

MAXJET Global waterjet cutting machine

A new waterjet cutting machine boasts the latest pump system and technology that enables faster and more efficient speeds without compromising quality.

Johannesburg-based material processing company MAXJET Global recently announced its commissioning of the US-built Omax waterjet cutting machine. The company says its investment was based on the increasing demand for its services and its efforts to improve efficiencies, increase output capacities, and mitigate the effects of power outages.

The Omax waterjet cutting machine is equipped with the EnduroMAX 60000 psi pump system which accelerates the water pressure to beyond 4 100 bars. A specialised 5-axis taper compensating head has also been added to the machine, which was an optional extra.

The taper compensating head helps to eliminate any ‘taper’ when processing thicker materials and adds taper to apertures or screen plates when required, minimising ‘blinding’ when the flow of materials occurs.

The machine can be used on a variety of materials, from 0.025 mm in thickness, including: mild steel, stainless steel and titanium, duplex alloys, brass, nylon, polycarb, shimstocks, polytetrafluoroethylene, or PTFE – also known as Teflon – physical vapor deposition materials  or PVD in sheet form, aluminium composite material, and composites such as carbon fibre, as well as wood, copper, Inconel and aluminium.
