Specialist to showcase latest international developments

SHOWCASING SPECIALTIES Sulzer will be highlighting its range of specialist services for rotating equipment operators at this year’s POWER-GEN & DistribuTECH Africa

Global engineering company Sulzer will be highlighting the specialist services it has on offer for gas turbine operators and other rotating equipment at this year’s POWER-GEN & DistribuTECH Africa.

The Switzerland-headquartered company highlights that the event – which will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre from July 18 to 20 – is set to attract speakers and exhibitors from around the world to discuss prominent industry issues and present the latest innovations.

Sulzer staff will be available at the exhibition to discuss the latest repair solutions for rotating equipment within the power generating sector. The company offers a great deal of expertise in the gas turbine sector, with experienced personnel dedicated to the support of the F-class gas turbine market, including equipment from the fleets of manufacturers GE, Siemens and Alstom.

“Modern facilities create products such as turbine and compressor blades to the highest specifications, with support from dedicated field services, technical direction and manufacturing, as well as overhaul and refurbishment teams,” says Sulzer.

At this year’s POWER-GEN & DistribuTECH Africa, Sulzer staff will also provide information on some of the other services offered by the company, such as the repair of generators and motors and the refurbishment of pumps. In addition, Sulzer will highlight its capabilities for manufacturing new parts for turbines, as well as providing in-house manufacturing and coating technology for compressor blades.

Global Reach
With a global network of service centres, including one in Johannesburg, Sulzer is a leading service provider for all brands of rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, generators and electric motors. These are supported by design, manufacturing and engineering centres that can offer turnkey solutions for the entire power generation market.

In May, Sulzer secured two significant pump orders from Spanish engineering, procurement and construction company Técnicas Reunidas for the Kilpilahti combined heat and power plant, in Porvoo, Finland.

Three new steam generators with a capacity of 450 MW of thermal heat and a power output of around 30 MW will be installed at the Kilpilahti project, which will comply with the latest environmental regulations, including the European Commission’s Industrial Emissions Directive.

The order from Técnicas Reunidas includes 12 feedwater pumps for steam and power production, one of which will be driven by a steam turbine. The reliable, high-efficiency boiler feed pumps will be manufactured in Sulzer’s factory in Bruchsal, Germany, and Sulzer expects to deliver the pumps by early summer 2017.

In addition, 11 trademarked AHLSTA centrifugal pumps are going to be installed at the same power plant. The AHLSTA pumps, manufactured by Sulzer in Finland, will be delivered in spring 2017. They will be installed in the flue gas cleaning systems in two of the three boiler plants that energy solutions provider Valmet will deliver to Técnicas Reunidas.
