PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Diversified miner South32 has appointed Rowena Smith in the newly created role of chief sustainability officer, and Peter Finnimore in the newly created role of chief marketing officer.

CEO Graham Kerr said on Tuesday that the two new appointments to the South32 lead team reflected the direction of the company and the importance that South32 placed on its people, the communities in which it operated, and its environment.

Smith will be responsible for health, safety, environment, sustainability and security in her role as chief sustainability officer, and has been with South32 since 2015 as VP of supply in the Australia region.

Finnimore for his part has been the head of marketing since May 2015, and has over 25 years of global experience in logistics and marketing, and has worked in Japan, Australia, Russia, Cyprus and Switzerland.
