The project entails the construction of a 1 182 MW combined-cycle facility that will deliver a clean, reliable and efficient source of energy to more than one-million homes.

The project is a natural gas electric generation facility that also may use ultra-low sulphur diesel.

Potential Job Creation
The peak construction phase is expected to create about 1 000 jobs and about 25 to 30 jobs when in operation.

The facility is scheduled to enter commercial operation in 2021.

Latest Developments
Bechtel has been selected to design and build the power plant. The company will be responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the electric generating facility, which will use General Electric (GE) power generation equipment, including two natural gas turbines, each paired with a heat recovery steam generator and steam turbine generator.
