Solutions to counter cold weather

Traffic high speed fold-up doors from Apex Strip Curtains & Doors

Large doorways left open to facilitate easy access at manufacturing and storage facilities may present challenges to maintaining a comfortable and healthy working environment for employees.

During the cold winter it is especially difficult to maintain a constant temperature in areas with large openings, which may lead to unpleasant working conditions that could negatively affect productivity.

Apex Strip Curtains & Doors asserts that its range of solutions, such as its general-purpose strip curtains, high-speed doors and impact traffic doors, effectively address these problems and are especially suited to applications where the maintenance of a consistent temperature is required.

Locally manufactured from specially formulated polyvinyl chloride (PVC) material, Apex general purpose strip curtains can be used to cordon off areas within manufacturing facilities, workshops, storage areas or warehouses and are generally fitted on hanging hardware across a door or entranceway on a specially made framework.

Each PVC strip features the company’s Balledge design that aims to ensure an efficient thermal seal, preventing the ingress of cold air into the workplace. The transparent strips are designed to allow unimpaired vision into enclosed areas and to readily part under pressure, allowing easy access for both equipment and personnel.

The company’s range of high-speed doors offers a solution for quick and easy access and is suitable for a number of applications such as warehouse entrances, as they do not hinder personnel, forklift or vehicle traffic and can be automatically or manually controlled.

The Sector high speed roll-up door is said to deliver both functionality and performance, with a robust design aimed at coping with the demands of heavy and continuous traffic.

The Traffic high speed fold-up doors offer a sturdy, modular solution for medium and large entrances such as shipment and warehouse areas and are particularly suited to conditions where wind is a factor.

The support structure of the doors contains all the electrical drive gear as well as a special mechanical counterbalancing system, affording quick and easy installation. The doors are controlled by an electronic unit which complies with International Electrotechnical Commission regulations and can be activated by remote control equipment such as photocells, pressure sensitive mats, movement detectors or induction loops. To facilitate safety, the door is fitted with a release lever that opens it from either side in the event of a power failure or malfunction.

The locally manufactured Apex SR 9000 high impact traffic door also complies with relevant safety, health, environment and quality standards and is made from a 3 mm acrylonitrile butadiene styrene plastic skin which is impervious to moisture, acids, petroleum products, animal fats, rodents, insects and salt solutions, adds the company.

The door is available with or without vision panels, which are constructed from 3 mm clear polycarbonate sheeting and are available in a number of custom sizes.
