BMW Group South Africa CEO Tim Abbott stands inside a purpose-built bamboo and stainless steel solar carport, which is able to charge the company’s growing range of electric vehicles using the sun, rather than electricity from South Africa’s coal-dominated grid. The first solar carport has been installed at the company’s head office in Midrand, Gauteng.
