Randy Reichert, currently VP of operations for B2Gold, has been appointed to the board of Canadian exploration and development company Skeena Resources, which is revitalising the past-producing Eskay Creek gold/silver project in British Columbia.

Reichert’s years of mine building experience will help guide Skeena as it aggressively advances Eskay Creek through development and into production, says CEO Walter Coles.

Reichert has 30 years of experience in the mining industry. Prior to his position as B2Gold operations VP overseeing three international gold operations, Reichert was general manager at the Fekola mine in Mali.

Reichert started his career with Cominco in Canada working at various operations including the Snip mine. He then embarked on international work with Bema Gold, Oriel Resources, and other junior companies in executive roles where he was responsible for various development projects and mining operations.

He has also worked on construction or development projects in Russia, Brazil, Nevada, and Kazakhstan and was general manager during the development of the Kupol mine in Russia with Bema Gold and subsequently Kinross.

Meanwhile, Skeena has initiated the Phase 2 drill investigation of the Albino waste facility (AWF), situated west of the Eskay Creek mine site.

The AWF was used by former operators as a subaqueous repository for mine waste management and included both mine waste rock and mill tailings.

The drill programme is designed to test the gold/silver grade potential of the remaining untested portions of the AWF on 50 m drill spacing as follow-up from the initial investigation completed in the first quarter..
