Established in 1998, Select PPE is a distributor of application-specific personal protective equipment for customers operating in the mining, manufacturing, agriculture, construction, petroleum, hospitality, medical, corporate and security sectors throughout Africa.
Select PPE formulated a ‘PPE Solution’ to help employers comply with industry and regulatory requirements. The solution comprises an on-site store at customers’ premises. Together with its customers, Select PPE determines an issuing protocol stipulating the rules under which personal protective equipment will be issued. This issue history is recorded and reviewed with the client on a monthly basis. The company’s current customers in the mining sector making use of this service include Anglo American Platinum, Impala Platinum, Lonmin and Sibanye Gold.
Select PPE also caters for clients who do not prefer the on-site store solution by offering various other service options, which include consignment stores, shopping online or a vending machine solution for a less labour-intensive supply of personal protective equipment for employees.
During 2014, Select PPE opened the first of four retail stores to assess the retail industry. It proved to be a huge success and Select PPE plans to expand this part of the business in the future. The various retail stores offer a wide variety of personal protective clothing and equipment, including a range of outdoor and leisure clothing.
The company’s product line includes, but is not limited to, arc wear; eye, fall, foot, hand, hearing and respiratory protection equipment; security clothing; workwear; road safety equipment; catering uniforms; cleaning products; and corporate clothing.
Select PPE, headquartered in Randfontein, Gauteng, has branches throughout Africa which are equally enthusiastic about the future of the company, as well as the rebranding of the company and the launch of the new company website.
